Mécanisme d'action: L'oritavancine a trois mécanismes d'action : (i) inhibition de l'étape de transglycosylation (polymérisation) de la biosynthèse de la paroi cellulaire par fixation au peptide souche du précurseur du peptidoglycane ; (ii) inhibition de l'étape de transpeptidation (réticulation) de la synthèse de la paroi cellulaire par fixation aux segments de liaison des peptides ; et (iii) perturbation de l'intégrité de la membrane bactérienne, conduisant à la dépolarisation, à la perméabilisation et à la mort rapide des cellules.
